Pirate Raft Race

shelterbox charity raft racePraa Sands beach will once again play host to the annual Raft Race in aid of Shelter Box. This years theme is Pirates. The event will include food and craft stalls, bouncy castle, volleyball as well as a range of live music.

The Mosquitos, Ocean Fever and Praa Sands very own boy band 'Bugga' will be playing on the day. There will also be a beach bar in situ for the day.

Food, Art and Craft Fair

With a large marquee of art and craft stalls on the tennis lawn, and a selection of fine food stalls in the cobbled stable area of the house, you can expect an array of attractions, plus a variety of entertainment for children, with craft workshops, traditional fair ground and donkey rides.

Spend the day wandering the woods, relaxing on the lawn, or picnicking in the walled garden, with home-made refreshments available including cakes, crepes, soups, tortilla wraps and local meat pasties, plus locally made ice-cream, fruit juice squeezed as you watch, and even a Cornish beer stall to tempt your taste buds. Remember to bring your picnic blanket, or if you prefer, take a seat in Trereife’s Poet’s Cafe. And should the weather prove temperamental, rest assured that the event will be undercover.

Medusa the Celt

We are pleased to welcome the cast back following their side-splitting performance last year of The Charity Shop Cabaret. This year we look forward to the ‘funny, scary and astonishing’ Medusa the Celt.

‘Medusa The Celt is an extraordinary journey into the myth of the Gorgon, whose gaze turns all who look at her to stone.

This is a big, powerful, action-storytelling in the great tradition of Cornish outdoor theatre, with haunting music and stunning costume.

The Greenway Pro Surf Competition 2010

A host of the UK's top Surfers and Bodyboarders will come together to compete and celebrate the life of Tom Greenway with a weekend of surfing and music. In the true spirit of surfing community, both locals and visitors, from as far away as South Africa and Australia will creating an incredible vibe and unique atmosphere.

Penzance Literary Festival

Events will be held in town on the first three days at Penzance Library, Treveylan House and the Penzance Arts Club as well as other smaller venues in and around Penzance. On the final day the festival will join with the Design fair at Trereife.

Planned events include writing workshops, poetry writing workshop and a big read. The chosen book will be read by as many people as possible and then discussed at exhibitions with displays and demonstrations on the same book.

Introduction to Bee Keeping

Lutz Eiser will give an introduction to bees covering bee plants, especially herbs, feeding methods, hive management,equipment needed. There will be a practical session at midday where we have the chance to examine a working hive. There will be an opportunity to ask any questions from Lutz who has been working with Bees for over 10 years. All bee suits and protective clothing provided.

Fright night at Poldark Mine

Following the success of the underground ghost tours, Poldark Mine is planning its’ first ever Fright Night on Friday 27th August.

Keeping their wits about them, visitors will need to separate fact from fiction as they explore the legend of 17th Century villain Justin Trelane and his grizzly crimes.
Visitors will be marched into the candlelit mine, descending deep into the shadowy depths to be met by untold horrors. With shocks and surprises along the way visitors will need nerves of steel to complete the one hour fright fest. 

Finally resurfacing guests will be able to visit the licensed bar to revive their shattered nerves. There will also be a barbeque throughout the evening.

This stunning venue is the setting for an annul music event. Party In The Park is all about the best local bands playing in front of the best crowd, all under one roof!

The event is held under cover in marquees within the beautiful and historic grounds of Trereife Park, 1/2 mile west of Penzance on the A30 Lands End road. £7 on the door. 2pm to midnight.

Tonkins backyard Jam series 2010, is all about having a go. We have an Under 12s, Under 16s and an Open category. MTB or BMX. Also featuring the Longest Skid, Longest Manuel and the High Jump Comps! Prizes supplied by KONA, Protec, Vans & Plain Lazy.

The Track will open at 10am and close at 9pm. Spectator entry is free, rider entry for the day is £10, entry into the competitions is just £3.
